Instructions for Base Coat

The new LUME Base Coat has a gritty texture, previously unavailable in prior Base Coat versions. As a result of this change in consistency, the Base Coat has better properties for adhesion and slightly more strength, while still supplying the flexibility needed for the best nail gel application combination.

Some things to remember in applying the new Base Coat are:

1.Apply one coat. This coat should completely cover the nail, but not be thick.

2. The Base Coat will have a rough texture. Don't worry. This roughness can be covered up by the Top Coat.

3.Apply enough NAIL Ice Top Coat to cover the grittiness found in the Base Coat. Sometimes this is easier to accomplish in two coats, rather than just one. Be sure to shape your nail, with increased thickness over the "C" curve, thinning the nail out towards the tip. If one or two coats of Top Coat are not covering the roughness of the Base Coat, more Top Coat is needed. This procedure actually provides a good test to determine that sufficient Top Coat has been used. The primary strength of the nail is in the Top Coat. Accordingly, if not enough Top Coat is used, the nail will bend too much, be prone to cracking, and may lift off the nail.

4.Remember: the Top Coat is a great "self-leveler." What this means is that if you have been careful to keep the Top Coat away from the cuticle and skin area, you can allow the Top Coat to flow into the correct position, creating a smooth, even surface, without excessive filing after curing has taken place. This leveling may take up to a minute. There is no need to be in a hurry. The extra time spent allowing the Top Coat to level, will still be much quicker then shaping the nail afterward with a nail file or buffer block. If any Base or Top Coat run into the cuticle, remove with a cuticle stick.

5. Bond Gel under your Lume Lamp for (1) minute.

Note: If you notice you Lume Nail lifting it may be time to replace your "Bulb" - they do not burn out, but they do loose their light intensity.
